About Ju Jitsu

Jikishin Ju Jitsu is based on the ancient Japanese art of Ju Jitsu.

UKMAGB LogoWe practice a modern style which has been designed to be a complete self defence system. The object is to train the student to deal with almost any attack, including attacks by more than one assailant, defences against knife attacks, and attacks and defences using a stick or club. The evolution of Jikishin Ju Jitsu from an ancient battlefield art into a modern, effective and comprehensive self defence system has required a rethink on how we need to consider our responses to an attack, and remain within the law.

At the higher grades the qualified student trains in the traditional weapons of Japan, the stances and striking poses improve the student's overall ability, agility, reflexes and builds muscle memory, which aids immediate response to attack.

Euro-Budo International LogoIn Japanese, Jikishin has a specific meaning; Jiki means straight , honest or direct, while Shin means heart, this is the guiding principle of our organisation.

We, at Jikishin Ju Jitsu Association, welcome students young and old (from children at 4 years old to the 72 year young student who attained Second Dan). As Instructors we always remember that everyone starts this Art as a novice, as Instructors we all remember what this was like, and we try to keep this in mind when teaching. Every Black Belt Dan Grade you will meet started in the same place, as a White Belt finding the way - with difficulties overcome, and challenges met, have moved on to greater success and attainment. This is the path for all students, to constantly learn and improve. Dan Grades do this through the constant and consistent learning of new skills, and improving their expertise.
