Jikishin Ju Jitsu
Jikishin
Ju Jitsu was founded by Professor Terry Parker, 9th Dan, and Janet Parker, 6th
Dan, in 1992. Terry Parker is National Grading Officer for the BJJA (GB), is a Member of the
BJJA (GB) Committee, and is the South East Coordinator for the BJJA (GB).
Terry and Janet are also founder members of the United Nations of Ju Jitsu and
sit on the International Committee.
In June 2004, Terry Parker retired from actively
running Jikishin, after a life
spent in the Martial Arts, and handed the reins over to Sensei Brian Herbert 7th Dan, who is the Head
of the Jikishin Ju Jitsu Association.
The Jikishin style of Ju Jitsu is a modern style which has evolved to a complete self defence system, training the student to deal with almost any attack, including attacks by more than one assailant, defences against knife attacks, and attacks and defences using a stick. At the higher grades the qualified student is trained in the traditional weapons of Japan, the stances and striking poses improve the student's overall ability, agility, reflexes and builds muscle memory. In Japanese Jikishin has a specific meaning; Jiki means straight , honest or direct, while Shin means heart.
We, at Jikishin Ju Jitsu Association, have welcomed students young and old (from 5
years old to the 72 year old who took his Second Dan Grading). We always
remember that we all started this Art as novices.
